Ok, first let me start by saying I'm neither Republican or Democrat. I would be a registered Independent but Virginia doesn't ask. Although most people who know me will say I'm pretty liberal. Being in the middle, I have the ability to look at both parties with objectivity (read: disgust). I've watched both campaigns and I will readily say I'm suffering from Campaign fatugue. How many days are left in this race?
Naturally as we get closer to election time, the claws start coming out. The newest attack from McCain against Obama is the stupidest and most priceless since I've been able to vote. I have voted in every presidential election since 2000, even though none have gone my way ( I also voted in the Michigan gubernatorial race for Granholm and I would like to apologize to the Michigan people for my contribution to her win). This priceless jewel is the current McCain attack ads, calling Obama a celebrity. Granted, I watched Obama parade around Europe like he already was in office and kind of thought the same thing, but it also showed that McCain is an idiot.
First off, if I remember correctly, there was fanfare of the Hiltons, donating money to McCain's campaign. Then he uses their daughter, Paris (while most consider her a celebrity, I consider her as a complete waste of tree) in the ads, along with old party pal Britney Spears. He calls Obama the biggest celebrity in the world....yeah, apparently Paris is considered a huge celebrity the world over. Can he lead? Well, McCain, were you about 50 years younger, you might realize that America lives and dies by the will and ways of the celebrity. Our society and wasteful spending all rides on our obsession with Celebrities. How many Louis Vuitton do you see wandering around. Didn't everyone seem to have them after the premiere of Newlyweds? Anna Nicole Smith was discussed on CNN as if she was real news. what? Britney must have had on panties those days. How much money is spent on Star magazine and the National Enquirer and OK and People and the list goes on and on. How many people actually still read Time and Newsweek (For the record, I do). No one cares. Celebrity lives are much more fascinating than our own. Basically they lead us. They lead us in our lives, how we live life, what we buy. read, watch, etc.
While Obama should fight back on this, can anyone really blame him? Why waste the time and money to address such a ridiculous ad? Seriously. McCain, you could do much better. Also, I do respect Obama for going against the politics as usual approach and trying to go in a different direction.
However, in my own humble opinion, I don't think either man is the man for the job right now. Anyone is better than GW Bush (who did NOT WIN the 2000 election, and Gore's pansy ass should have fought that) but I don't think either could do it. Nor could Hillary. Hopefully, this country will pick the right man, whoever that may be.

DC Metro..sucks
Moving to the DC area, the greatest joy was that I could save the wear and tear on my vehicle and use public transportation. It would be the way to go, or so I thought.
Earlier this year, the Metro raised fares, citing maintenance costs and other crap. So I pay more, but the service remains crappy. Anyone who rides the Blue or Orange lines are well aware that if someone farts in the wrong key, the service goes out. Or there is a switching problem, or a malfunction, etc. etc. But yet here they are about to expand the system to Dulles when they can't even maintain or make work properly, the lines they already have. Also, they are proposing adding a new purple line. Again! Why?
Your system sucks. It doesn't work. New York, Chicago, NEVER have the amount of problem that WMATA has. Why is that???Nothing is worse after a long hard day at work and then having to bake in the un-airconditioned metro station waiting for whatever problem has befell the system that day. My suggestion to Metro is, get an auditor looking at those books. That money is going somewhere, but it's definiely not going towards maintaince...think about it.
